Chislett Developments Friends, Susan and Gregg Chislett, operate a citrus grove, avocado orchard and citrus nursery on the banks of the Murray River at Kenley, Victoria, approximately half way between Swan Hill and Robinvale. They have developed and registered a summer ripening navel orange, 'Chislett Summer Navel'. This orange is marketed under the brand 'Chis-Elite', so look for it in you supermarkets and greengrocers. This show, conducted in Mildura each November, on the Thursday immediately following Melbourne Cup Day, showcases the very best of Australian wines made from 'alternative' grape varieties.
The show includes seminars, public tasting of entered wines, structured wine tasting sessions and a presentation dinner featuring winning wines from the previous show matched to food prepared by Stefano de Pieri.
During the week of the show many of local wineries and restaurants feature special menus matched to wines made from 'alternative' grape varieties. Several of these events have wine-makers present for discussion on the wine and wine making process.
An event not to be missed.

Conducted annually in Swan Hill during the fist week of October this event highlights the excellent wines being produced from the inland areas of Australia.
The wine regions of River-land (South Australia), Murray/Darling (N.W. Vic and S.W. N.S.W.) and the Big Rivers (N.S.W.) produce some 85% of all wines exported from Australia.
These regions are becoming better known for the high quality of the wines being made by a large number of boutique to medium sized wineries.
Many of the local restaurants and club dining rooms make a feature of pairing local produce and locally produced wines at special dinners, often with the winemaker present during the evening to speak with patrons about the wines.
